What Happens During a Facial at Hazel Salon & Spa
Every facial at Hazel Salon & Spa starts the same way, with a close look at your skin before anything touches it. From there, your esthetician chooses the approach for that visit, so you leave with skin that's calmer, clearer, or more even, depending on what it needs that day. If you've never had a professional facial, or you've had one that felt more like a nap than a treatment, here's what to expect at Hazel in East Longmeadow.
Before your facial
When you reserve, you'll choose a facial from our menu. Each one is built around a result rather than a list of steps, so you can pick the one closest to what you're hoping for without knowing any skincare vocabulary. Your esthetician will confirm the fit once they've actually seen your skin.
A few days ahead, it helps to pause anything strong in your routine, like retinoids or exfoliating acids, unless you've been told otherwise. Bring a list of the products you use now, because it tells us more about your skin than almost anything else.
The skin consultation
The first few minutes are a conversation. We'll ask what you notice about your skin day to day, what's changed lately, and what you'd like to be different. Then your esthetician looks closely at texture, hydration, congestion, and sensitivity. This is where your facial is really decided: within the facial you reserved, your esthetician can choose from several professional protocols and select the one that fits your skin that day.
During the facial
Most facials follow a similar arc. We cleanse your skin, then exfoliate it in a way that suits it, before the focused part of the treatment, which might be extractions, a targeted serum, or a mask. It finishes with hydration and protection. We use professional skincare lines because it lets us adjust each step to the skin in front of us instead of running the same routine on everyone. Peels are available as an add-on when your skin is a good candidate, and your esthetician will explain what to expect before adding one.
After your facial
Your skin may look a little pink for a few hours, especially after extractions or a peel, and that usually settles the same day. If you can, skip makeup for the rest of the day, go easy on strong products for a few days, and wear sunscreen every morning. You'll leave knowing what to use at home and when it makes sense to come back.
One facial or a series?
A single facial can leave skin noticeably calmer and brighter. Bigger changes, like more even tone or fewer breakouts, tend to build across a series, because skin renews itself over several weeks. Your esthetician will suggest a rhythm that fits your skin, and you decide what fits your schedule.
Our spa sits right alongside the salon, so a facial at Hazel comes with the same care you know from your hair and nail appointments. Reserve a facial online, or text us at 413-526-7266 if you'd like help choosing one.
We'll see you soon,
